Assessment of Hair Loss in Women
Hair assessment in
women is a little complex in terms of its determination of the root cause
comparatively to men. Hair loss in men occurs mainly because of androgenetic
alopecia which is called as male pattern hair loss. Androgenetic alopecia is
passed genetically through generations which are the reason for hair fall in
women and it may vary in patterns that show in the case of men.
Females do not face
broad balding like in the case of men. There are many reasons to consider for
hair loss in women although androgenetic alopecia leads to hair loss in females
too. Since investigators are sure of genetic passing of hair loss from
generations and do not believe of the fact that various jeans can be involved
in hair loss as a cause in women and men.
Reasons that cause
hair loss in women instead of androgenetic alopecia are:
- Hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism- Hair loss is mainly caused by hormone production in this case.Hyperthyroidism- Over production of some hormones and hypothyroidism- Low production of hormones in the thyroid gland. It can be reduced or stopped with medication.
- PCOS(Polycystic ovary syndrome) is another cause of hair loss in women. An inherited dysfunctional condition which affects the women’s ovaries and shows up in 10% of women population in their reproductive years.
- Any hormonal change in pregnancy stage can also trigger growth of hair in women, but it gets back to normal within a few months of bearing the child.
- Some changes in hormones show in women in menopause stage. Hair loss can start when in menopause stage of women. This can be medically treated.
Hair loss patterns in women vary from that of men. In females the
patterns create more diffused hair loss and hair thinning on an area of scalp. Consulting
a physician in such cases is advised.
Treatments
A hair replacement surgery can help! But going through a hair transplant process is the ideal way to lessen hair fall and get a fuller head of hair. But there are some cases in women in which a hair transplant cannot be conducted, the reasons are:
- Diffuse thinning of hair caused by too much hair loss. It is difficult to get donor hair for hair transplantation from scalp parts due to hair thinning on the entire scalp.
- Also when the patient expects too much of hair restoration it’s not possible to restore it fully to original state.
It’s vital
that prior to any surgery of hair restoration one needs to clear off all doubts
with processes, costs and any outcomes. The patient and hair transplant doctors
need to decide mutually on the treatment plans. For a consultation!! Contact Now!
