Who faces Alopecia Totalis?
The sufferers mostly include children and young adults who fall under the age group of 40 but it can affect people of all ages. The nails could appear to look ridged, pitted or even brittle in appearance. As per statistics, 2% of men and 1% of women in western society come under the health issue of Alopecia Areata. 2% of people suffer from Universalis or Totalis which means that about 1 in 125,000 men and 1 in every 250,000 women have Universalis or Alopecia Totalis.

Causes of Alopecia Totalis
The main cause is a disorder in the auto immunes that cause immune system to attack hair follicles.  Mostly there are few chances of hair recovery but there are cases which have shown positive results in complete hair restoration. It can be considered as a genetic condition in the auto immune system that triggers without knowledge and reasons unknown. Scientists all over are still conducting research on this topic to know the reason of this heath issue and as to why hair follicles are attacked due to autoimmune activities.
